Red Wine Stewed Apricots and Prunes

Stewed with red wine, orange juice, cinnamon, and honey, fragrant apricots and prunes transform a bowl of steel-cut oatmeal into a satisfying dish.

Ingredients

  • 1½ c. dried apricots
  • 1½ c. dried prunes
  • 1½ c. Honey
  • ¾ c. red wine
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1¼ c. fresh squeezed orange juice

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Roughly chop the apricots and prunes and combine with the remaining ingredients in a 13- by 9-inch baking pan. Cook in the oven until the fruit is very tender and liquid thickens, 40 to 50 minutes.
